The amount of noise relative to the amount of guitar will stay about the same with the level turned down. You don't notice the noise as much, but if you turn the playback up to the level of the guitar on high, you will still hear all the backgound noise. Using only a pickup, with no mic, would improve this, but the best answer is to keep the recording room quiet.
