Question about being "Pickless"
Well, o.k., here we go--
Since I have been playing blues/jazz, I have not been using picks--just gets in the way of "stab" chords, bossa beats, etc.
Now, tho, I can't seem to find the best way to fast single note runs. I've tried the classical "p-i-m-a" style, I've tried using the tip of my index finger as if it were a pick, I've tried quickly alternating my thumb and index finger on single string runs (thumb down; finger up), and I've tried using my thumb only, a la Wes Montgomery. None of these feels more comfortable to me than the other at this time.
How do the rest of you pick? Any suggestions?

It was pretty deliberate. She wanted to get out and the train was full, and no she didn't say a word.
Once upon a time I worked on some World Vision projects in northern India, and caught the train across the top of the country. Now getting in and out of those was like playing rugby!

Now if that had been the other way around, there would have been hell to pay with you. She probably would have complained to the conductor or someone in authority!
Things like that are really not fair and they make me angry!

Yeah! Thanks for that info Lori, I have heard of that before so no, I don't think it's at all crazy, although I've never tried it myself. Maybe one day I'll pluck up the courage to join the queue of ladies at the local nail/beauty parlour.
Then and again ..... maybe I won't. We have a saying in Oz. that real men don't eat quiche.
(love a good egg and bacon pie though)

How do you end up with 1 million dollars playing jazz? start with 2 million.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
