You don't have to use the address for the smilie. Just push the smilie button that you want to use and it should insert a specific code which will turn into the smilie icon when you send your post. Such as :claping*: (remove the *) will look like this.
If you were to use a smilie face from another website, then you'd use the image's address with [img*][/img*] (remove the *'s) on either side. Such as:
[img*]http://www.guitarforbeginners.com/forum/images/smilies/claping.gif[/img*]
