Sleepy,
I've been playing for 35 years (not that I'm that good....just that OLD) and the Gmaj7 chord Kirk spoke of in the second and third measure darn near kicked my butt...but today it suddenly made sense. Where you see the
slide at the end of the second measure you've got to use your second and third fingers, rather than your first and second (which would be so much simpler to do.) This way, you can easily play the arpeggio in measure three, otherwise this becomes an exercise in futility.
I had to have my wife position herself at an angle from me that mirrored the angle from which Kirk's video was shot and it took both of us to figure out how the HECK he was able to pull it off.
I LOVE this arrangement but am late getting on board and have only mastered the first four bars. Has anyone made it past bar 13? That has got to be one of the hottest licks around and I thank Kirk for laying it down.
Of course I've yet to make it to measure 10, where the Gmaj7 is repeated, and I'm just hoping something even trickier isn't awaiting me there.
It's nice to know other people have been working on this song. My goal is one measure a day...sort of like eating an apple to keep the doctor away!
