  Practical examples to try

As mentioned earlier, the more often you transpose, the easier and faster you become at it. Here are some practical examples for you to try.

1. Let it Be (verse) in the key of B major
|B - - - |F# - - - |G#m- - -|E - - -|
|B - - - |F# - - - |E - - - |B - - -|

Transpose it up a semitone (or half step) to the key of C major.
(There will be an answer - a bit later).

2. 12 bar blues in E
| E7 - - - | A7 - - - | E7 - - - | E7 - - - |
| A7 - - - | A7 - - - | E7 - - - | E7 - - - |
| B7 - - - | A7 - - - | E7 - - - | B7 - - - |

Make it a 12 bar blues in A

3. The House of the Rising Sun in C minor
|Cm - - - - -|Eb - - - - -|F - - - - - |Ab- - - - -|
|Cm - - - - -|Eb - - - - -|G - - - - - |G7- - - - -|
|Cm - - - - -|Eb - - - - -|F - - - - - |Ab- - - - -|
|Cm - - - - -|G7 - - - - -|Cm- - - - - |G7- - - - -||

Transpose it to its usual key of A minor.
