Hmmmm- I'm starting to wonder if we shouldn't start promoting soundclick (or other sites) as a way to help unload some of the bandwidth the site is using. Also, we could band together and try to promote each other's music by taking listens. Could have a "Bust the Charts" forum.

That could be a really good idea Chris. We'd have to find out how Kirk and Clancy would feel about more music being on SoundClick than on here (rather than on both as it is now) -- it might make it less easy for people to get constructive criticism if listeners have to listen on one site and comment on another... But for bandwidth reasons it makes sense.

The banding together and listening to each other music WORKS. Me and a group of other classical artists did that on the old mp3.com and we all helped each other out a lot. There was no "gaming" (like automated downloads or listens) just a lot of people interested in other like-minded peoples music, and everyone won!

Great thoughts!
Jim

One difference is I offer more of my songs here. I have no real desire to see my tunes flounder on the SoundClick charts, and I believe many of them would.

I agree Keith. The more I think about it, I think the Recording Booth needs to stay the primary place members put their music and get feedback and other places like SoundClick can be secondary, for people that want to to be able to reach a potentially wider audience (but with no feedback or constructive criticism). But with 15,000+ members here, and others just passing through, this place may end up with a bigger audience in the end!

If enough people just donate a little bit each, Kirk and Clancy can buy whatever additional storage and bandwidth they may need as members here increase.

And it really is easy to get lost in charts of places like SoundClick -- I experienced that first hand with years on mp3.com. It was very frustrating!

I do think listening to each others music - both here and on other sites like SoundClick - is a good thing and should be encouraged. Hey, we're listening to some cool music, so it's a win-win thing, IMO!

Jim

I feel I get lost in the shuffle at SoundClick. At least here I get some comments so I know someone has listened.

Howy Doug!! Yeah, I think there are a number of us both on WholeNote and on here. Kirk and Jim Heidinger immediately come to mind, but I know there are more as well.

I'll be seeing you here or there!

Peace back at ya Doug!
Jim
