johnny64, I didn't mean to sound disrespectful - in my mind I was hinting to the way I kind of worship James' music and taking the mickie out of myself. Sorry dude.

There is an image file there with the TAB, perhaps he's just forgotten to upload the GP file. Miracles might just take a bit longer ......

Which Right-hand finger when plucking the top 3 strings?
Hi,
I'm trying to learn the intro, where you need to fingerpick the first string, followed by the second string, and then the third.
Should the first string be plucked with the the ring finger?
Would it be:
first string: ring finger
second string: middle
third string: index
0r ...
first string: middle finger
second string: index
third string: index
What is the proper way to do this? Using just the middle and index seems to be slightly
easier but I don't mind using the ring finger if that is the better technique.
Is there a general rule regarding which right-hand finger to use on the top three strings?
Thanks -- Raoul

Hi Raoul, a general rule for fingerstyle is to place the ring finger on the first - thinnest - string, middle finger on the second string and index finger on the third string, leaving the thumb to take care of the bottom three bass stings. As I said this is a general rule which you will probably break every time you pick up the guitar but hopefully it will help you out a little.

Yes, I have seen the video several times and will need to continue studying it.
So far, I have noticed that the thumb is taking care of the sixth and fifth string. The thumb also plays the fourth string. However, sometimes the index finger plays the fourth string.
I have watched the first bar of the video several times but am embarrassed to say that I'm not sure if the first string is being played by the ring or middle finger.
I think I will follow si16's advice and let the ring finger take care of the first string throughout the song.
The ring finger feels weaker than the middle when plucking the first string but the advantage of this method is that you don't have to move the hand around as much.
