The 'notes' are part of the Guitar port file. You need the GP program to open that file.

Hi Douglas,

You can always buy Guitar Pro to open the attached GP files, but what I was talking about, and what Kirk was referring to, was the attached image file you will find with the most recent lessons. They looks like this:

File Type: gif notation.gif (35.8 KB, 20 views)

Lol, I hadn't even noticed that image, probably because I have GP and usually just download that file. Depending on your browsers settings, when you click on that image to open it in your browser it may be 'zoomed to fit in window' and hard to read. You will know if this is the case because your cursor will change to a + symbol. I am using Firefox and when I zoom in with that + click, the notes and TAB are very clear. Otherwise, save the image and either print it, or open in a decent image viewer.

  notation

I have found 2 or 3 sites that offer notation, but will only you show you the first page, if you want more than that, you have to buy the music. A moderater will have to tell me if sites like these are supposed to be posted on this site, if so, I will relay them to you.

A link to them should be fine. I will take a look once you have the links up just to be sure,

These sites offer some good samples and have a large data base.
http://www.musicnotes.com/
http://www.sheetmusicdirect.us/i18n/index.jsp
http://www.free-scores.com/centre-uk.php?CATEGORIE=70

Here are some good sites that offer entire songs but a smaller data base:
http://bobwolford.com/
http://www.frettedinstrumentsnyc.com/
http://www.fenderplayersclub.com/
You might have to download the appropriate program to open the songs, depending on what format they use, but just a little clicking around and you should have it.

Hope this helps. If anyone else has some suggestion, I would like to know.
Thanks,
hb

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
