I've been writing and posting lyrics for years. I have yet to be ripped off. Of course, that could be taken in several different ways. I have no doubt it is the later Les as your lyrics are very good to read
( when no music is being played )
I believe that lyrics to a song should be a story that takes the reader/listener on a journey , and the structure should be in a way that does not confine the author strict rules that need to be complied with.

What ever the structure as long as it carries the words in a way that listener / reader believes they have done something , loved someone , left someone ect.....
