Another new guy and dragonforce!

Hi everyone. I am completely new to guitars but I know a bit about music through keyboard lessons awhile ago. I am wanting to start on an electric guitar. I checked out a few but I don't know all the guitar features lingo to get one. The type of music that inspired me to get one is the band Dragonforce. Now THAT is some skill. I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction for purchasing an electric guitar ($200-300) and necessary accessories for about that is good at what music I had in mind.

You may be interested in something like this as well:

ESP make some pretty good guitars, and are especially suited to metal.

What am I looking at price wise ofr what I need? I am looking for good stuff, I don't want bottom of the barrel stuff but I don't want too much that I don't need. What should I spend the most money on and what is that not necessary to spend a lot on?
At 300 U.S., your gonna get ok stuff. Good stuff starts at around 600 and up. Great stuff starts around 1000 and up.Primo stuff starts around 3000 and don't even think about vintage.
The idea,IMO, is to start with ok stuff to learn on. You need the experience of playing to get a feel for what axe is the one for you as well as what amp. I think UGB sells lanies. He would be a good guy to ask since he plays semi pro and sells guitars and amps. Very few players start with their dream rig right out of the gate. They trade up as time goes by.
We are still gonna need more info on what your needs are in an amp and what price you are going for.

I am going to be playing in a room by myself to practice getting better. I want it to sound really good but doen't have to be loud. Some effects would be nice so I have some options.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
