I once did a session in a studio that suffered from traffic noise and the producer/engineer, my good friend
Michael 'Stav' Stavrou, had one of those lapel mics. Being a quirky sort of guy he rubber-bandded it to my hand so it was nestled in the palm. My hand acted as sound barrier and I found I could even manipulate the dynamics by moving my hand in closer or out further from the guitar ... we got a great take and no traffic noise.
