Dumb is not asking about something new to you. A slide is a tube made of metal, glass or ceramics. It is worn on the pinky,sometimes the 3rd finger and less often the index finger. Your fretting hand lays it across the strings of the neck where it is slid to notes you wish to play up and down the neck. Very popular in blues and country though players like Kirk have the skills to break out of those styles. Bad to the Bone by George Thorogood,Bonnie Raitt plays mostly slide on her tunes. Rocky Mountain High is a classic of slide. If you google for slide giutar you will probably find a huge amount of sites. It is a very popular style of playing.
