Angry Squier Strat Problem

I always seem to have trouble with this guitar! It is exasperating. The first one I bought, the neck was warped and as it was under warranty they gave me a replacement guitar'cause it couldn't be fixed. Now, the one I have seems to have a lot of fret buzz. To my untrained eye it seems that the neck is bowed in (i.e. down instead of up). Should I chance adjusting the truss rod, and if so which direction should I use the Allan key, clockwise or c.c.? Or should I try adjusting the screws at the bridge? I also want to change to light strings and wonder if I should do so before or after I try the adjustments? Also I cannot attache the tremolo bar from the first Strat, and I thought they should be interchangeable?

Any comments/feedback would really be appreciated. Also, has anyone else had probs with a Squier Strat? I know it is a cheaper brand of Fender but I do wonder about it's reliability.
