G Blues in 6/8

...............don't mean to drown you folks in sentimental blues. - However, this one builds very nicely...and very cool players on side. - I think there's eight choruses. - What do you say each person takes a chorus ? - I might add it's very friendly for guitarists just starting out.

This will be my final mp3 post re the ' Blues ' ......hope to hear a few takes !

Best wishes !

Burps

Thanks Kirk and RockerBob!

Both your opinions mean a lot to me, I respect them a lot, and I'm so happy that I was able to play to a level that you both liked.

Honestly Kirk - my love of the blues didn't really hit me until last summer. I don't know why, but one day last August I came home from work kinda down, pulled out my acoustic and just started playing and haven't stopped since. This was after a break of over 10 years of not playing, even though I played a lot of folk/pop/rock music on guitar from 1967 (when I first started) until the early '90's. From 1990 to 2001 or so I concentrated on classical composition - which is something I also started back in the late '60's and what I got my undergrad degree in. Anyway, in September I got the Les Paul (to replace an identical one I had sold in '75) and tomorrow I'm receiving the EC strat - and I don't see it stopping. I can't stop listening to blues, playing blues, watching other people play the blues... My wife thinks it's a mid-life crisis... but I'm having a great time at it!

I'll record something with the new strat as soon as I can.

Thanks again!

Jim

  Exclusively for guitarforbeginners

Nice backing track. Punchy and sparse, just like I want'em, heh..

Ok, so here's my first take after getting home from work, eating, getting sleepy just before bed.

I was trying out some new ideas and techniques, some of which needed to be, uh..em, "creativley resolved"

If anyone cares, that's my good ole' Fender HRD with the Weber Blue Dog speaker miced through a tube pre-amp into the sound card.

Enjoy ( I hope)
Peace,
Rico

Wow Rico. You had those blues talking. Great take.
I heard what you meant about creative resolution. Trying new stuff is always an adventure. Sometimes it pays off and sometimes not.

............having said the above. - Have another listen to Kirk's and RB's interpretation. - There's a lot to learn in those takes...including me...all the way.

Cheers

Kirk, I always liked your dirty slide sound, but after hearing that slide thing, it reminds me that the sound (or tone) is in the fingers...

So I'll try to work on my slide technique a bit more to get that sound with my HRD instead of trying to nail your sound with some hardware.

Cool playing.

Gilles

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
