Hey, IŽv been playing guitar for about 4 years. The last 1-2 years I have been trying to learn how to improvise. I got to a stage where it was a lot of hit or miss. Unless id stay within the key of Aminor, but then I usually had the same things going on for most of the time.
I knew I had to break out of that so i was trying to find something to help me out a little. So last december i stumbled upon
planetalk. It has done wonders on my improvising skills. It took me a while to realize this but it pretty much opens up the entire fretboard, allowing you to float around very nicely. I actually enjoy improvising alot now

.
Btw, It doesnŽt matter what style of music you play. It will help you understand the guitar alot better. My favourite genre is definetly metal. It helps alot when you are figuring out songs for yourselves. So get your ear going too and you wonŽt need tabs to learn your favourite songs.
Now as with anything, you have to practise this method too. It is definetly the best book I have seen on improvising but that doesnŽt mean youŽll instantly get good at it. It just sort of lays out the entire fretboard to you in a very easy way, then its up to you what you do with it. Good luck
