If you're looking for an inexpensive electric guitar, then I've heard good things about
Squire Stratocasters. If you'd rather have a guitar with dual humbuckers, I've also heard good things about the Dean
Evo and
Vendetta. I would stay away from used guitars for now if I were you, unless it's a used guitar at Guitar Center or Sam Ash that a proffessional luthier has inspected thoroughly.
Unfortunately, I've heard
very bad things about Esteban guitars. I'm not saying this to hurt your feelings. I'm saying this because if you find learning to play very, very difficult, then part of the problem might be your guitar. It would be sad if you got frustrated and gave up, thinking that you "can't learn this", when you could if you had a better guitar. Now, please don't misunderstand me, learning to play on the best guitar in the world is still hard, but it's MUCH harder on a guitar that is of very poor quality.
Don't take my word for it though. Please do a Google search for "Esteban guitar reviews" and you'll be able to read what I've read. It's
possible that the particular Esteban guitar you have is good. These guitars are made in a factory in China that has little or no quality control or consistency, so the plant winds up making some guitars that are decent and some that are firewood, all in the same day off the same assembly line. I hope you were lucky and got a good one. If not, I'd recommend going ahead and getting an electric. Electrics are easier to learn on than acoustics anyway.
