Wakefield - a swingin' place
Thanks Kirk, Marty:
If you're ever hangin' aruond Wakefield on a summer weekend, at about noon a steam train (built in 1907) rolls into town, full of tourists making the trip from Gatineau to Wakefield. A bunch of employee musicians jump off the train with beat up guitars (about five guitarists, and two fiddlers - all kids). They sing traditional french Canadian songs for about an hour, then jump back on the train to serenade the tourists on the trip back. It's a blast to see this.
Now that's the sort of summer job I would love to see my son doing when he's older!
Best,
D
