I have had it floating, blocked and just tightened. Currently it is just tightened. I have not noticed a difference in sustain. The only real difference I notice is if I hit 2 notes and bend one, with a full floating tremolo the non bent note goes a bit flat. I can't live with that, so I tighten the springs so it sits flat.
