I figured it out!

Once I got home I saw the slotted holes on the back cover that the strings can go through. I also got the block of wood out and put the tremolo on - as well as putting in a fresh battery. And I got rid of a little buzzing on the low E string.

My only question is how far those two "claw" screws in the back that control the tremolo block can come back and not come out. I don't have as much tremolo as I'd like but I'm afraid of those screws coming out of the wood since I have no idea how long they are. Does anyone know?
