What type of resonator guitar is it? Biscuit or spider?
A spider has a screw at the bridge and tension is adjustable.

Also what gauge strings are you using?
A biscuit could be reversed if someone spun the cone around 180 degree's. That would make the bridge backwards.
If a biscuit is too low a new one needs to be fitted. Perhaps your nut slots are cut too low?
The nut can be shimmed.
