Not an expert on Amps but Peavey have a good reputation and the Rage has good reviews so good call on that.

If you've got access to all the guitars you've mentioned it's worth having a go on them, don't worry if you're just starting out it's more about getting a feel for the guitar it's important to have one you're comfortable with also if you can get the person selling it to give it a play that would be good give you an idea of which one you like the sound of.
