Hallelujah
I found the words on the Internet Monday evening and did a quick recording Tuesday evening. Forgive the clams, each part was a single take. I was anxious to hear it. I love this tune and I'm glad I finally got around to learning it. I'm playing in G, capoed at the third fret, so it's in Bb. It works good here for my voice.

For this tune you don't need to pick certain notes of the chord. Just play either a simple strum or simple picking pattern as a backup for singing. Of course, if you are trying a solo guitar version, the requirements go way up as you add the melody.

What is the strumming pattern?
Bob, can you tell me what the strumming pattern is for this song? Did you record seperate guitar parts?
Thank Bob

No strumming. I fingerpicked it with a simple pattern.

98 posts and counting. This track (and deservedly so) must be making a record for most posts for any tune! This was a homerun RB, right vocals, right guitar, right sound. Still one I listen to over and over on my ipod!

Wow.. 100 posts for one tune, talk about longevity! Well deserved too. My daughter had a gaggle of girls over for her birthday a few months back. Guess what song these girls were singing? Hallelujah! Lyrics were a tad different, but that's what they were learning in church choir. So, it's a tune that bridges the generation gap. I recorded them wailing and thought about posting it, but I didn't get them to sign waivers! Rock on Rockerbob!

Wow, this thread has legs! I finally took a listen and I'll have to say I got a tear in my eye. Great work RB.
Oh and NoCat I tried to listen to your version as well, but sad to say it was gone.

Thanks, Fly!
If it brought a tear, I must have done something right. Like choosing a great tune to record!

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
