Hallelujah

I found the words on the Internet Monday evening and did a quick recording Tuesday evening. Forgive the clams, each part was a single take. I was anxious to hear it. I love this tune and I'm glad I finally got around to learning it. I'm playing in G, capoed at the third fret, so it's in Bb. It works good here for my voice.

This needs airing out again IMO

RB this is just too good to not let re-surface. I've tried to fingerpick it but not real satisfied with the results yet.

Lovely rendition Rockerbob. I can't help wondering why every artist that does that song only does Cohen's second version of it. The first version, written earlier in His career is so much more powerful and moving. I guess its just not as well known outside of Canada. Most folks probably heard it when Shrek came out. Very nicely done anyhoo sir.

Hey- I may play slow, but I sure am imprecise!

Thanks! When I decided to learn it I search the web and found several versions of the words. I chose the ones I liked best.

Yeah- their great lyrics that stand on their own merit. It just amazes me that I songwriter can write lyrics and rewrite them years later and have many folks like yourself like the second version better. Thats a true poet at work. Peace.

Excellent rendition of a classic tune. Loved it!

Just try a Google search. That's how I found the words and chords. I never looked for any tab. I just played with simple picking patterns until I found one I liked.

Hey RB,
I'm glad to see this tune resurface for newcomers. If there was a best of the forum list, this one would be fighting for top spot. Your vocals on this are spot on, and Leonard Cohen would be jealous! It's on my ipod and I still listen to it. Oops.. Where do I sent the royalty cheque?

Hey RB

Sorry if this is a silly question but when I've tried to play songs with only chords written above them they just don't sound right (dunno whether it's just my timing or would I be correct in thinking that you just don't strum the chords and change as indicated but that you need to pick certain notes from the chord shapes?)

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Tracy
