I'm 53 (soon to be 54).

I started guitar lessons at 15, played a lot until I was about 40 (mostly folk and pop/rock), then slacked off the guitar until last summer when I took it up really seriously again - this time with the Blues as my focus. I lost about 12 years not playing - but with a lot of practice I think I'm back to, and maybe getting ahead of, where I was at 40.

And I won't stop until I can't lift an acoustic!!!

Jim

62 in January and still a computer whiz kid. Guitar music has carried me for 46 years. And still learning and having fun.

Hey what do you mean AARP wannabee??? My wife ran out and got me a membership as soon as I was eligible. So now I'm paying her back by taking up the guitar. :-)

Well at least I'm in good company.

Oh... I forgot (LOL) 51.

I'm 4. Why isn't there an option for under 10? Neah, kiddin'
I'm actually 18 and was born on Christmas Day. Lucky me gets only one present . I hope I'll find the time to practice playing the guitar for years to come - timing the musical notes is soooo relaxing. Maybe one day I'll look back on this thread and see that I acheived what I wanted...
I'm getting old (kidding again )

Gonna hit the big 4-0 next month and I'm just starting to learn cos was always interested in playing guitar but never got around to it (I know, excuses, excuses). Tried a couple of years back but just gave up cos of lack of support and motivation. Okay, so maybe I'm just really lazy and couldn't be bothered (or maybe it's just life getting in the way.........work, kids, pets, family, friends, etc ) but you guys have instilled a bit of drive and determination in me to succeed at this. Thanx guys

There's definitely an interesting variation of age in the forum.............s'great that it's mixing so well..!!

50 here. And #2 would be a fitting description for me. All of the internet resources (tabs, web sites like this) and Guitar Pro finally got me over the hump and on my way to learning to play. Now I want to sell everything, buy a shack in the woods, and sit on the porch and play guitar all day. Cept I'd still have to have a computer and internet connection.

Not to worry, from the looks of the posts (including mine) you're at least 17 years early or so.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
