OS = Operating System. Are you using Windows (XP or Vista) or a Mac OS?

Hi again. I have been into realplayer support. It suggest it may be an error in downloading the piece, so download it again, or an error in realplayer download, do that again. Neither of these things answers why I can play other peoples clips and other people can download my clip. I dont want you to have to spend the rest of the week on my problem so when I have another piece ready I will try posting that and see what happens then. If you do figure it out I would love to know but please dont bash your head on the wall over this. Thanks again.
Best wishes
Mike

Michael, I'm not sure why you have it set so that Realplayer is your default for playing mp3 files. I would switch that over to windows media player if I were you.
Links on this site have no time limit. What link from February couldn't you download?

Morning Clancy. Tis here anyway. Cant find that particular file, I just looked, it could have been on any forum on the site, but it is not unusual for me not to be able to open a file. I will have to find out how to set for Media Player, should be able to do that, but what I haven't told you is that I cannot open many files, but if I opt to save them to my docs, I can then open them. Bit of a pain and I often dont bother. Not sure whether that would work every time, but I cant think of an occasion when I have done that and not been able to open it.

Hi again Clancy. Been to "Get feedback on your playing" and picked this one at random. Last post Feb 6th, Gigue A Losi. Halfway down the first page. Not sure whether thats all the tune or the tune and the artist. Looks promising with realplayer then the usual box comes up and it doesnt open.

Michael, I really think it is a file association problem and Realplayer is your issue.
If you are using Internet Explorer as your browser, go to Tools > Internet Options > Programs > Internet Programs > Set Programs - then select Associate a file type or protocol with a program - then scroll down to your see .mp3 then select change program and select "Windows Media Player" and then OK. Restart your browser and your mp3s should open with Windows Media Player.
Hope that fixes it for you.

Hi Clancy. I dont have the option of "set programmes". After internet programmes I have: HTML editor, e mail, newsgroups, internet call, calender, contact list.
At the bottom, "manage add ons" which shows me add ons that have been used by int. ex. There I find realplayer G2 control and real player download and record plug in for int ex.
Any ideas? Many thanks for persevering.

Sorry Mike, I needed to check this on a XP OS. I am running vista and those options are there on my Internet Explorer browser. I checked on Kirk's computer (he is still on Windows XP) and I see what you mean. I found the following on another forum and it's worth a try: Good luck.
Apparently if the computer does not know what to do with the file type, then it will default to downloading such files. To let the computer know what to do with that file type, you have to associate that file type with the appropriate application. The easiest way to do this is to right-click on such a file, go to open with, choose the appropriate application and then check the box that says, "always open this type of file with this application".
Cheers
