my very first guitar

well i got my first guitar 3 days ago...i have no experience whatsoever...i've been researching and researching on the net to see what a good beginner guitar would be...i finally just went into a guitar shop, strummed on some guitars...got some advice from the salesman...this one felt like it fit me, i liked the sound and look of it more than the others i tried...its a Fender CD220CE made of Dao...to me it had a real rich and warm sound...i really love it...acoustic/electric with Fishman onboard tuner...the action may be a tad bit high compared to some others, but not bad...i actually kind of like it like that for now to help me build some dexterity...here is some pics...wish me luck

That's a nice looking guitar you have there. Now all you have to do is teach it some tunes.
Good luck, and keep in touch.

You can play it right away or you can
play it right. Your choice!

Nice guitar I have a fender acoustic as well but a grand auditorium model. They have great tone but are never set up well.

Take it to a specialist to get set up correctly and it will make it much better to play!

i still don't really understand what the term...get a guitar "setup" means...i mean it feels nice to me, sounds nice to me...the guy that sold it to me played it some...he seemed to also like it?????

Hi 312InchMagnum,

Set up on acoustics refers to neck relief, checking string height on the saddle and nut for low or high action, strings, and intonation, but if your guitar feels ok to you, stays in tune and you have no problem with the height of the strings and you can press the strings down and get a note/chord without a wrestling match then you're ok, the guy in the shop sounds good and you seem quite happy so you're pretty well set up already.
It can actually be a major problem for beginners if the set up isn't right and can lead to people giving up, you seem ok with yours but some guitars especially the Package deals are a real nightmare, in my opinion you chose the best way to buy don't think anything beats trying a few out to see what guitar suits the player, hope you have lots of fun learning sounds like you're making good progress does take a bit of time speeding the changes up but it does come together

Nice guitar by the way looks great
