  Planetalk, a great theory lesson

Hi folks
I've been playing guitar for a year now and recently bought Kirk's Planetalk book. I was a great way of teaching the theory basics for me and I would recommend any other newbies to learn some of the theory in this book. I've only really played fingerstyle and this knowledge helped me expand around the chords and embellish them somewhat.
I don't play lead though (or really know any other guitarists) so I'm not sure how to harness my newfound knowledge fully but I'm sure I'll get there. (If anyone can point me to an appropriate thread info on solo playing I'd appreciate it)
All in all Planetalk was easy to follow and gives the basics for what I'm sure will be a world of possibilities.
Thanks Kirk
Archie

Hello Archie...
I have heard a lot about the Plane Talk DVD,you are not the first.I found a page on the web with many guitarists(not all beginners, but also others with 20 years of experience)who were absolutely amazed with the book.In a couple of weeks I want to order it too .I am glad that you are finding your way around the guitar and expanding your horizons. As for solos, try out something slow at the beginning...Good luck learning to play the guitar.Have fun...

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
