  a question before buying

Hi

I'm a self-taught guitarist/songwriter. I've been looking at the posts on PlaneTalk and it looks like it's exactly what I've been wanting from a guitar tutor for a long time.

The chords I use in my songs are often 'found' - ie. I have no idea what I'm playing, but like the sound of it - consequently, however, I tend to get stuck in not really knowing which chord to then move to.

I usually learn other people's songs by ear. I've tried learning scale theory (using various methods including replacing colours with notes and the like - that didn't really work for me!), but ended up just going up and down the scales. I don't play lead and therefore find it hard to get scales and names of notes/chords to stick in my mind. I just can't seem to make the connection between chords and scales and so the fretboard and chords remain a bit of a mystery to me.

Will PlaneTalk help with chord construction for songwriters or is it geared more towards those wanting to play solos?

Also, does the DVD play on Zone 2 (U.K.)? As I will have to play it on my laptop?

Cheers.
