Deal of an Amp
Hey All:
The annual church garage sale was today and I picked up a Peavey KB-100 for $5! I could not believe it. Even if it had issues, it would be worth the meager investment. I'll post pics a bit later.
I brought it home, plugged in, and it's great! I kept the volume low on it, because it is a keyboard amp. And now for my question...
What are the cons of using a keyboard amp for a guitar? Does anyone recommend anything specific that I should not be doing?
I went to Harmony Central, and many of the reviews I read for this amp indicated that folks were using it for a guitar rig.
It sounds great on the lower levels. The spring reverb on it is okay, as well as the 4 band equalizer. I was thinking I'd use this more for an acoustic than an electric, because I can mic it through one of the other inputs.
Cheers,
FP

Actually I was just playing through a keyboard amp they use at the church for basically talking through a mic. Had to mess around a bit with the pre/post gain to get a decent sound, and as you said, keep the volume low. It sounded great on the clean channel, but a lot of feedback with lead channel. Nice Find!

Nothing wrong with that deal! Great find. Like Maddog says, no problem using it with a guitar, I have as well with my Strat and acoustic electric.

Great deal on the amp. Heck, for $5 you can definitely find *some* use for it!

Keyboard amps are great for using multi effects units like pods etc.
Well done

Nothing wrong with using a keyboard amp. As long as it works!
