You've got to spell the guitar's name right (Squier) or you kill the mojo!
It's interesting that even people who've owned Squiers for years do the same thing.
It's worth paying the few dollars for a setup if you're inexperienced.
Did you buy it from an authorised Fender dealer? If so, go back to the shop and get them to help.
If you bought it online, then see if you can find a local luthier (guitar builder/repairer etc.).
