Aargh- Lyrics challenges.....

Had another tune hit me that I had to get a rough recording done on quick. I've got the first verse and the chorus for the song, and a good sense of where it needs to go, but the wordsmithing is not going too well. HELP!

Here's a link to the song:

Here's the lyrics so far- haven't had a chance to do a rough vocal take yet, but you can get the sense of rhythm pretty easily.

I always thought that our love was true,
You knew I'd bend over backwards for you.
Every obstacle we overcame
That's what I thought, but it was just a game

CHORUS:
But now I know you're the one to blame
(For the lies that you have spoken)
And now I'm set free from your claim

Any takers on adding to it is appreciated. Basically it's a song about getting your heart ripped out and then picking yourself up and moving on with life. I think all of us can relate at one level or another.

Chris

Life- live it.

Here are a couple of verses Chris and I added a line to the chorus, hope there the kind of thing you're looking for, how many verses are you looking to have?

I always thought that our love was true,
You knew I'd bend over backwards for you.
Every obstacle we overcame
That's what I thought, but it was just a game

CHORUS:

But now I know you're the one to blame
(For the lies that you have spoken)
And now I'm set free from your claim
But life's so empty when a heart is broken

Losing a love isn't easy to do
Gonna take some time to get over you
Though you deceived me every day
I thought that we could find a way

But the road came to a bitter end
We couldn't even part as friends
Now I'm on my own, lost and all alone
Repairing the wreckage of a broken home

CHORUS

But now I know you're the one to blame
(For the lies that you have spoken)
And now I'm set free from your claim
But life's so empty when a heart is broken

You don't stop laughing when you grow old; you grow old when you stop laughing.

Starsailor-
I do believe you nailed it! Fits like a glove. Can't wait til I have the house alone to do the vocals!

I've got two more verses I've just done if you want them as well Chris

They say that time heals all wounds
But when I walk round these empty rooms
I think of the good times that we had
Before you strayed and things went bad

I know now that those times have gone
The time has come for me to move on
Start life again with someone new
A girl I can trust not a liar like you

I wrote listening to the tune but wasn't too sure if it was right, so it's great you like those verses

You don't stop laughing when you grow old; you grow old when you stop laughing.

Here's the link to the "finished" product. I put that in quotes because this one may deserve a re-record when I get better equipment, someday....
