Young Metal Guitarist Says Hi! And Wants Help!

Hey everyone. First of all my name is Ryan and im 23.

I played guitar, completely self taught, from the age of 12-20, but i literally didnt touch a guitar from when my daughter was born almost 2 years go until around a month ago. Ive blown most of the cobwebs off, my form is pretty decent although my pinky use is limited due to some nerve damage..

Anyway. Basically i've been learning some pretty grooving Metal tunes to try and ease my way back in, and together with a couple of friends have a covers band started, with some shows coming up. Ive got Territory by Sepultura down, and Threatening Skies by Obituary as well as some other simpler stuff. However one of the songs they've picked to do is Mouth of War by Pantera.....the solo is killing me. I just dont know where to start. Does anyone have any tips? I see 12 year old kids on YouTube nailing it, it is so damn disheartening!

Actually, maybe I can help...

A little quick googling for "Pantera tablature" lead me to this:

Pantera "Mouth for war" Guitar tabs

I don't know if that's what you need, I've never even heard the song (not really a metal fan, more of a classic rock and blues guy), but I hope this link is helpful. If you mean you have the tabs/sheet music but need tips on which fingers to use when and where, that sort of technical tip, well, obviously I can be of no use at all there. Sorry.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
