Don't Call us Geriatric (we're having a good time)

Just thought I'd post this song

Don't call us Geriatric

Verse 1

We are older than the hills
Live in fear of heart attacks
Keep a concoction of pills
Suffer with our aching backs
We've all written out our wills
So we just kick back and relax

Verse 2

You may think we are past our best
It's true in some ways we're not blessed
No six packs or Pert looking breasts
No long blonde hair or tooth filled smile
Been heading South for quite a while
Don't think that we are bothered though
We do still have get up and go

Chorus

Don't call us geriatric
We haven't lost our mind
It's true we are erratic
Lose things we never find
But don't call us Geriatric
We're having a good time

Verse 3

To make our life more interesting
On buses and in stores
We like to slow things down a bit
It stops us getting bored
As Youngsters tap their feet in queues
Waste time they cannot lose
We spend hours counting change
Just to watch them go deranged

Verse 4

We buy high powered cars
Then drive at thirty five
It's not that we can't drive fast
It just spices up our life
We look into our mirrors
At the traffic jam behind
And just look at the scenery
With no concept of time

Chorus

Don't call us geriatric
We haven't lost our mind
It's true we are erratic
Lose things we never find
But don't call us Geriatric
We're having a good time

Verse 5

We no longer suffer stress
Our hairs already headed west
No bosses breathing down our neck
Don't feel the need now to impress
The grass is greener over here
We know we've seen both sides
So you live in the fast lane
We'll just enjoy the ride

Chorus

Don't call us geriatric
We haven't lost our mind
It's true we are erratic
Lose things we never find
But don't call us Geriatric
We're having a good time

End

Don't call us Geriatric
We're having a good time

Yah! They can't call us long names, we'll show them who's who.

Good one - neat idea. Man, you come out with them prolifically. (That's the word of the day in the newspaper.)

I write a lot as well Thanks for having a look Johnnydoxx, I asked my children to think of something and I'd write a song about it, they said write something about being old like me, so I wrote this, they're all grounded now, the cheek of it

Thanks for having a look guys, it's a bit tongue in cheek, it was fun to write, I haven't got a tune yet I'm afraid I've got more songs than tunes at the moment so I've got a bit of catching up to do, I don't want to stop writing though, I'll catch up eventually I hope

Funny stuff, I particularly like 'So you live in the fast lane
We'll just enjoy the ride'. Can't wait to hear the song.

Very goode Chris - clever and funny as well. My fav line is "Been heading south for quite a while" - I can relate to that and most of the rest too! (although I do have a good dentist and I haven't lost all my hair.....yet). Will there be a tune?

Thanks for having a look Ian, this is in the queue at the moment, might go a bit heavier on this one

That was my favourite line, I liked the grass is greener over here we know we've seen both sides as well, I've still got my own teeth and hair but the hairs going grey now.
I thought I might go Punk on this for a laugh, needs a bit of attitude, what do you think Carol?
