No it's not a dumb question at all, the twelve string fretboard can be a little bit wider than a standard fretboard depending on the make of guitar. You can get capos for twelve strings, here are some shubbs they have a grading system 1, 2,3, the threes are for the twelve strings. Hope this helps.
