ah, this is probably one of the hardest techniques to get the hang off, i used this arpeggio to practice sweeping
--------------6--6---------------------
-----------7--------7------------------
--------6--------------6---------------
-----8--------------------8------------
--9--------------------------9---------
---------------------------------------
Try just practicing this just going up then once you get the hang of the pattern add it going down, also, start practicing it slowly, if you try to push it and play it fast you will only make it more difficult for yourself in the future.
PRACTICE WITH A METRONOME!
after you get that down try moving the pattern around the fret board, i like playing it like this,
--------------6--6---------------------
-----------7--------7------------------
--------6--------------6---------------
-----8--------------------8------------
--9--------------------------9---------
---------------------------------------
--------------4--4---------------------
-----------5--------5------------------
--------4--------------4---------------
-----6--------------------6------------
--7--------------------------7---------
---------------------------------------
--------------2--2---------------------
-----------3--------3------------------
--------2--------------2---------------
-----4--------------------4------------
--5--------------------------5---------
---------------------------------------
--------------1--1---------------------
-----------2--------2------------------
--------1--------------3---------------
-----3--------------------3------------
--4--------------------------4---------
---------------------------------------
repeat:
play that a few times starting off at a really slow tempo,Lets say 40 bpm, then after every time you play it correctly without error increase the speed by 1 click or 2 bpm, if theres an error slow it down 1 click until you can play it error free, this will seam like a boring task, but i guarantee that you will get amazing results from this.
i now use this arpeggio as a warm up before i play guitar, just starting with a simple arpeggio and moving it around the fretboard you can create some cool stuff.
hope this helps :]
