Just some memories

Hello all. I've been away so long I feel like I should re-introduce myself. I've been a lurker at times but I got a bone bruise on one of my fretting fingers that has pretty much shut my guitar playing down. It's feeling some better lately and actually I'm on the program at church tomorrow for the first time in a long while. Hope I can stand the pain.

Anyway, I thought I would share a memory from the past here at GFB. It was a virtual jam with Kirk on slide we did a year or so ago. It's the bottom one here.

(Edit) I'm thinking this link may not work. Sorry if it doesn't come up. Maybe this URL will work

If not, I'm done.

Thanks to all for listening and for the comments. It's gratifying to know that some people enjoy listening to my attempts to play guitar. The guitar is a remarkable instrument with an infinite array of possible styles and sounds when in the hands of different people.

I don't use fingerpicks on any of the tunes on the Soundclick site. I mostly use my thumb and forefinger but try to combine both the melody and harmony sounds with the forefinger, being careful to emphasize the melody. I sometimes use the fingernail of my ring finger for a downward sweep of the strings.

For the life of me I can't keep a perfect alternate base line beat with my thumb. Close but "no cigar."

Welcome back- you're not the only one who feels like they haven't been a part of things as much lately. Glad to hear things are on the mend.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
