ECHOES IN TIME rewrite and ideas

Hi guys, This is a rewrite of a song I put on a while back, with an idea of where I'm going with it, thought I'd try and show what's going on in my head when I write a song, hope it's more interesting than confusing, this is pretty much finished now just needs a bit of fine tuning and recording, I've not been known for my speed in recording but I've got to do this one, hope you like what I've done

ECHOES IN TIME

Verse 1 (Fingerstyle)

There is a music store in a shady part of town
Guitars in the window could do with a dusting down
Run by and old man who used to be somebody
A flower child dependent on memories

Short Bridge (Fingerstyle)

Verse 2 (Strumming)

His shop used to be the talk of the town
The finest guitars for miles around
Rising Stars would come from afar
Some just to hangout, play guitar
The scene was so vibrant, jam sessions upstairs
Pretty young girls with flowers in their hair
Now the girls are all Women the flowers have died
Stars have all faded guitars put aside
The old man walks in turns the open sign
But the music's gone it's just echoes in time

Bridge

Echoes in time
Echoes in time
Echoes in time (reverb or chorus)

3 Note Bridge (Fingerstyle)

Verse 3 (Fingerstyle)

He walks to the window to paint the words closing down
Watches for customers, has a good look around
People have moved on there's nothing there left to see
His mind starts to drift to a place in his memory

Short Bridge (Fingerstyle)

Verse 4 (Strumming)

The street used to be such a colourful sight
Street markets and parties so full of life
As young girls showed off their 60s looks
Young men sat in cafes read Kerouac books
Now the plans for a road trip, collect dust on a shelf
Concerns on looks replaced by ones about their health
The old man walks over turns the shop closed sign
Hears no sound from the street just echoes in time

Bridge

Echoes in time
Echoes in time
Echoes in time (reverb or chorus)

3 Note Bridge

Verse 5 (Fingerstyle)

He sits in the back room and plays an old folk guitar
Feels quite tired so stops, lights up a cigar
Then closes his eyes and lays back in his easy chair
Joins Hendrix and Joplin, he knows he is welcome there

Short Bridge (Fingerstyle)

Epilogue (Strumming)

The old man rises from his easy chair
Music's coming from the room upstairs
The shop displays the finest guitars
Pretty young girls are mixing with stars
The old man pauses, wipes away a tear
He's seen the future, but it's much better here
Once again he's a young man in his prime
The sounds are now real not echoes in time

Echoes in time
Echoes in time
Echoes in time

Repeat and fade out
