How do you remove inlays?

I've just recently gotten into self guitar tech, and i would like to know how to remove inlays from the neck without removing the fingerboard or damaging the neck. If it matters, currently the inlays in question are plastic dots on an Indonesian-made Squire. If there are different methods for different inlays, i would like to have information on them as well.
