  I'm I Ready?

Kirk, I have been play at the guitar for about 10 years now. I originally started playing guitar on an Alvarez that a church member gave me before I went off to seminary (I was 42 at the time). I thought that knowing a few basic cords would allow me to play some praise music with a youth group (camp fire kind of stuff). In the past year, I have begun playing drums, and it has opened a desire to also grow in my guitar playing. I have learned more chords, but since I have seen myself as a rhythm player, I admit that I haven't learned the scales. I am aware of the scales, but I have not practiced them. I also would like to learn finger picking, but I don't do that yet either.

All that information is so that I can ask the question, am I ready for Plane Talk, or will it be too advanced for me? I really want to grow, but I also don't want to overwhelm myself with something that will be way above my head. On the other hand, I read your responses to some that have learned scales, and all, and you noted that they will have to learn a new way of thinking. I can see the value in not having to unlearn an ingrained way of thinking. I would like to get your thoughts, and yes, I tend to think things through before I move, but once I move, I move!
