Sorry if this has been covered before but I am looking to buy a small practice amp. Never having amplified anything before I have no idea where to start.

It has to be suitable for an electro acoustic guitar and will be used at home only - I live in a first floor apartment so need something that will sound good at low volume. Both my upstairs and downstairs neighbours play guitar and we are very tolerant of each other. I would like it to stay that way.

So something small, sounds good but not too expensive.

Any ideas?

My vote still goes to the Micro Cube for apartment practicing. If you get to the point where you need to play louder (i.e. jamming with others or actually performing), you'll want to buy an amp that was made especially for amplifying an acoustic-electric guitar anyways (i.e. the Roland Acoustic Chorus 60, Fishman Loudbox, Genz-Benz Shenandoah, etc.), or go direct-in to a PA system like the Phonic (which DOES seem like an excellent deal for the price, BTW).

I've had my eye on that Phonic PA system ever since Dewy first posted about it, and I've lost count of how many times I've almost pulled the trigger on buying one - but I'd have second thoughts if living in an apartment because it sure would take up a lot of real estate simply to be used as a practice amp!

Been searching all weekend for a cube in the local muso stores but nobody has it in stock. I may just order from the net but would've liked to have heard it first. Not much choice in the local stores which is a pitty cos I preffer to give them my custom. It is quite cheap online though and everyone seems to like it so...in for a pennny..
