Song on the Wind
Ok, a bit of a test here, but I wanted to offer it to the community, as a chance to help me grow. Some background:
Was on the Audio chat with Windsong tonight and he said he only knew a few chords, so I was toying around with a D,C,G progression (don't let him fool ya, he can blaze on that Tele! ).
So later I was chatting with EddieZ, and we were discussion the noise coming from the monitor into the guitar... and wondering if it gets caught in the recording. So I needed something I could record and post here.
Also, since we're posting... there seems to be some sort of limit on the audacity for the click track... so short songs are all I can write until ya'll help me extend the click tracks.
So with three birds to kill, allow me to toss a song on the wind.
Feel free to expand upon it as it is now community property.
Remember, wherever you go... there you are.

I like the lyrics we have posted... and think they could fit, or be modified to fit over the riff I put forth. I experimented with a bass line & some guitar over X4string's drum tracks, and as soon as I get a bass sound I am happy with I'll post a recording of the Drums & Bass, as well as one of some guitar over them.
I also think the Lyrics should be explored over Windsong's chord progression, so is there a thread for those lyrics already? If so we should start a recording effort there with the Country feel, and existing chord progression.
I'm also looking through my pile of junk to see if I have a mic to plug into the V-Amp to attempt some vocals, but don't get your hopes up... it'll be a Crappy mic on a poor vocalist. Think F-Grade American Idol.

Thanks for the compliments Mac, but we're all in it together.
Seems the more I learn about guitars and songwriting... not to mention the gear... the more I have to learn.

Hi Dewy I have Windsongs lyrics with the chords, shall we do a fresh post in collaborations so we can work on them or stay on this thread, still needs an intro and an out verse and a bit of fine tuning, which I'm working on with windsong but all ideas are more than welcome and would help move the song along, this is a bit of a learnig curve for me as well.
Nice gesture Mac, don't think anyone would mind if you want to join in, you'd be more than welcome
Cheers
Chris

Lets keep his chords with those lyrics in another thread... and I'll pass them over these chords with a few slight mods here... and leave it open for more lyrical options too.
We can use the other thread to post a few rhythm tracks with his chord progression there. That will be the best of both worlds I believe.
It'll be Monday before I get back in here with any time on my hands... but I'll have us a better bass for recording and drop a few tracks both on this collab, and over in that one as well.

I would like to congratulate all you guys on this collab. Collabs can sometimes become a source of aggravation, and not an enjoyable experience for people contributing.
Sometimes a post can inadvertently upset others (its usually just a misunderstanding rather than a real clash) so you all need to be congratulated for working together on this with perfect harmony. Just thought I'd mention it. Well done.

Hi Carol, I haven't done many collaborations and they are quite hard to do online as we're all in different places and it is harder to keep things going.
Hi Dewy, I've been listening to the tune again and thought the lyrics might want to be a bit grittier in keeping with the blues element, so I've done another song today windsong asked me to bring the song on the wind in at the beginning, I didn't quite do that but the title is now a hookline, I quite like it but it's up to you guys it fits fairly well with the tune. I'll run it past windsong and if he likes it I'll post it.

Here are some more lyrics, feel free to change them, I was thinking about this progression when I wrote so I hope you guys like them
Song on the wind
Verse 1
The highway is clear
Harley sounds right
Got my girl on the back
She's holding me tight
Verse 2
As she hugs my body
My thoughts turn to sin
Then from a bar close by
Comes a song on the wind
Chorus
There's a song on the wind
Calling my name, inviting me in
Do I play my guitar or go for the sin
It's hard to resist a song on the wind
Verse 3
My girl doesn't mind
If I must play guitar
She knows my ambition
Is to be a star
Verse 4
She says she won't stay
Till the end of the show
But if I want to play
Then I'd better go
Chorus
There's a song on the wind
Calling name, inviting me in
Do I play my guitar or go for the sin
It's hard to resist a song on the wind
Verse 5
If I choose my guitar
There could be a storm
I love my guitar
But it can't keep me warm
Verse 6
So it's back on the road
My girl holding me tight
And we'll be together
For the rest of the night
Chorus
There's a song in the wind
Calling my name, inviting me in
It's a catch 22 sometimes you can't win
And you have to resist the song on the wind
out
You don't stop laughing when you grow old; you grow old when you stop laughing.
