Carvin are usually custom made to your specifications selected from the options they have. I know a guy that bought one and the only thing he didn't like was the weight of it. It was one of the DC400 models.
The newer models, from the recent catalog, like the CT6 or the
CS6, are more of a PRS clone or a LP clone, respectively.
From the few people I have discussed Carvin guitars with, the Quality is the best. The delivery (actual shipping) is the questionable part. Seems the shipping department gets things buggered up once in a while. However, the company is really good at making things good and the couple of guys I have talked with are really happy with their purchases.
They have only 5 stores, all in California. Everything is mail order, phone order or internet. They do have the 10 day guarantee where if you're not happy with your guitar, they'll take it back.
When I got this latest catalog, I was temporarily in lust with the CS6. Visions of getting rid of several of my current stable to get one......mmmmmmmm!
But it's just a bit out of my price range...well, ok, more than just a bit. So now it's on my dream list.

Oh, and just because a well know player endorses a product, doesn't mean it's necessarily his main axe. Peter Frampton endorsed Electra Guitars back in the mid 70's and never played one in concert. Now, Joe Walsh???? He's a guy of his own mind and if a product suits him, he'll use it. He is a big proponent of Heil microphones and does use them in some of his studio work and producing other players. So I could see him using a CT6 for an actual gig.
