Was that you on drums also?
It sounds more like a compressor. Did you use compression (or limiting) on the tracks? It's more noticeable on the drums (especially the kick) than guitar.

The drums were a very simple mic set up. Only three total mics. The kick was a CAD KBM412, a very inexpensive kick mic. Then I used two Behringer B-5 condenser mics set up in an overhead cross plane pattern. It was a very simple drum set up and a very inexpensive set of drums.
The Guitar amps were miced with an Audix I-5 condenser mic.
There is a little reverb added to the drum and rhythm guitar tracks and some cross stereo delay added to the lead guitar. At mastering there was some overall light compression added to even the sound out.
