Hello, brand new, but old

Hello to all. I am a brand new forum member and also new to guitar. But I am an old guy 55 I have decided to learn to play a bit. I have a peculiar problem...I jave NVLD(nonverbal learning disorder) Basically all this means is I don't see spatial patterns and designs like others. This becomes an issue with learning guitar...tabs are indecipherable...diagrams are not easily absorbed and the method of instruction I have been exposed to is difficult because it is seemingly random to me...that is it seems to start in the middle and jump around...Kirk's essay on "what is Music" is the first thing that remotely made sense to me...I am here hoping to pick up some info and hopefully become a decent player...if I ask questions that don't seem to make sense...its just my mind working in its different way...please indulge me.
Dave
