Our University song

The poem before the song...

Staring at the flickering screen
my eyes begin to numb
I go and grab some more caffeine
what have I now done
an office chair at home so plush
tucked in a corner space
just sitting here when came a rush
brought a smile right to my face
its 1 AM this days been long
its time I go to bed
I'll close this out with a new song
that just popped in my head

It would seem this thread
Has taken flight
To places often dreamt of
We ride on
Star light Sailing ships
Masts Strung tight
With 4 to Drive
And Carols from above to guide us.

Across the net
We surf with ease
From England and America
To the far flung Antipodes
Lines of words written with cheer
Float up into the Atmosphere
Then tumble down to our PCs

You don't stop laughing when you grow old; you grow old when you stop laughing.

Threads still moving what can I say
time for some direction how about we play
some sort of game...a challenge OK

The continuing poem slash song
lyrics from us all to move it along
one line at a time is fine
next to play decides when to rhyme

if your game I'll show no shame
and get this off to a start with this little bitty part

The willow tree was dancing ever so gently in the breeze....

Was it weeping? I don't think so, looked more likely it would sneeze!

Sorry, that was very, very silly, I'll try to be serious......

Do you want this to be a serious attempt at writing a song? I think we should have at least some idea of what we are trying to do here before we start (sorry it doesn't rhyme).

Sorry I’ve been absent, friends
Sometimes we can’t always choose
How we spend our time most wisely-
Then, back-seat, the writing muse.

I am watching from afar
As you all progress,
You’ve been busy, that I see-
How your words and thoughts impress!

Elves and fairies, there are plenty
Knights and sailors, less
Quite a serious venture this
Not like my usual mess.

This requires some heavy thought,
Not enough, my casual jest-
Quite a challenge, I would say,
Quite a mental torture test.

Thinking time is what is needed
On my part at least,
How to come to terms and tackle
Such an awesome beast……………….
