Our University song

The poem before the song...

Staring at the flickering screen
my eyes begin to numb
I go and grab some more caffeine
what have I now done
an office chair at home so plush
tucked in a corner space
just sitting here when came a rush
brought a smile right to my face
its 1 AM this days been long
its time I go to bed
I'll close this out with a new song
that just popped in my head

I give you goode warning
My brave-hearted friends
I'm practicing vocals
This coulde be the end
Of the beautiful friendship
We have had so far -
You coulde always escape,
And drive off in your car.

It'll take, a day or two to work out
I can't play the backing yet
But its never in doubt
The sound will astound you
It could even knock out
The sensitive amongst you
But wait - an idea I'll tout -
The cat will regret how she chooses to flaut
My kindness, and give me her best felline pout
I'll test it out first, just to see if I'm cursed
With a voice that could knock the cat flat.

I go away
For two short days
And find when I return
Four pages more to ponder
Four pages more to turn
Les has returned with rhyming
And Jess is full of tricks
Carol has turned all Techy
Chris's wall is short a brick
Kenny's talking cats and dogs
And horses and what not
The last four pages filled with
Things I have forgot.

You Guys and Gals just kill me...

I've fought many battles
Crossed many sword's
I now steel myself again
In wait for Carol's vocal chords
It will be fine I'm fairly sure
We'll hear a voice angelic,pure
Just in case it ends in tears
I've bought some plugs for my ears
But I'm sure all will be well
And that we will all live to tell
The tale of Carols first song
And of her cat who still lives on
The moggy has had some abuse
Talk of shotguns leather boots
Insane vocals from Starsailor
Enough to cause a cat heart failure
She's fought battles with feline locals
Now steels herself for Carols vocals

Hello Knight are you alright
Good to see you back
It's been quite an adventure
We haven't been that slack
I've indulged in lunacy
Jess indulged in trickery
We told tales of making tea
Discussed the toes of young Kenny
Sometimes indulged in frippery
There is no hope, indeed no cure
Were all just hooked on literature

You don't stop laughing when you grow old; you grow old when you stop laughing.

What a day my fellow twangers
Searching high and low
Had to find a power adapter
That I could bestow
Upon my keyboard -give it power
If my vocals are to flower
I need a backing camoflage
Much better than a small mirage.

I'm thinking duet is the way to go
Two warblings could be better,
Then, each one, is somewhat hidden
(Did you know Aborigines made things called middens?)

After that was in the bag
I went in search of extra RAM
Then a wee dram from a can
Installed the RAM without much trouble
Put on dinner - what a scramble
Then the trusty Balash came
To fix our router once again.

Would it work? No, it would not
Made more coffee in a pot
Several hours our Balash laboured
While some food he quietly savoured
Then we knocked off, for Christmas pud
That's what fixed it, I knew it would.

Now my puter flies and purrs
Wizzing here and there with grace
It keeps up quite a frenzied pace.
I know it sounds a bit absurd
It even has that thing called Word (its a rhyming thing).

The cat just sits there, its been outflanked
It's lucky it hasn't yet been spanked,
My puter purrs much better than her
And it doesn't complain or have much fur
I like my puter quite a lot
Unlike the cat who's gone to pot.

Carol it is good to hear
Your problems solved
Though with some tears.
Now let us hear those dulcet tones
That emanate from within your bones.
Sing to us with voices sweet
So that we may grovel at your feet.
And when your Duet is done
The shine will eclipse the envious Sun.

What nice words Knight!
But don't expect too much-
I might give you all a fright
Chris expects angelic tones
Now its 'dulcet tones' and 'sweet'
You forget I've got my two left feet
I don't know up from down in singing
I hope to hide behind some swinging
Swirling strings, and maybe organ
In case my voice sounds like a Gorgon.....
Wasn't she from ancient greece?
Snakes for hair, and someone's Fleece?
I'm sorry, how I do digress!
And even worse, much more is less.

I forgot to mention, sailor Chris
That I laughed out loud at your witty wit
I'm glad you have earplugs in your Arsenal
'Though its Watford, for whom I'm a bit more partial.

Medusa was a Gorgon I'm told
With snakes for hair and wings of gold.
Her voice was of a hissing tone
Her look would turn a man to stone
But fear not my Lady Carol M
Your voice will be a worthy hymn
And the only stone that you will see
Will be the pedestal we will have for thee.

Carol sorry to say I believe the cat was your main problem
give it the boot and ye shall be able to make your album
for cats are no good what with shedding all that hair
and for it to stand in your way is way to much to bare
think about your debut song and the possible loss of loot
all because of furballs you wouldn't kick with your boot
I think the cats to blame for your router acting as a log
if I was you I'd take that cat and feed it to the dog
I'm glad to hear everythings been at last now sorted out
knowing your determination there never ever was a doubt
So keyboards and your vocals we'll finally get to hear
I'll be waiting here so patiently with a celebratory beer
as to your duet I think a plan for singers yes should be
a couple of our female members like you and our Aunt Doty
Like birds on a wire singing out a tune so soft and sweet
try as I may I can not honestly think of any better treat

Limerick warning!
No-one has mentioned the Christmas pud!
I really did think, that somebody woulde
We really did have it
It’s become quite a habit
And it tasted as goode, as a goode pud shoulde.

Next week, we plan to have Turkey with gravy
It’s a shame to restrict it to Monday and pay-day
Or only Thanksgiving or Christmas time when,
Some poor folk must manage, and make do with hen.

OK my goode friends, has anyone picked it?
I’m back on my food theme, and to make matters worse
I’ve given up trying to banish the couplet
I suppose ‘cos this chatting, is not really verse.

Today I was busy, but in my spare time
I connected the keyboard, and it works every time
Now I have an adaptor with a positive tip
And DC, not AC, which confused me a bit.

The manual is 120 pages in length
So far I’m on 9, and it takes all my strength
Not to play with the ‘Voices’ and the big bass drum
I have to say though, it’s a barrel of fun.

I’m feeling the pressure to record you a song
But first I must master the flute and the gong
Two of my favourites are Chorus and Strings
But I don’t know yet, how to drive the damn thing.

Kenny I liked the idea that you had
Of giving the dogs, a breakfast of cat
But the dogs are too fussy
They wouldn’t oblige
So that, I’m afraid, is the end of that.

Don't feel pressure Carol
There's plenty of time
Just enjoy the process
Slowness ain't a crime
So pace yourself
And your singing
Will be fine
I wrote a message yesterday
Just a sort of note
But then I got cut off line
And forgot what I wrote
I was kind of tired
So I called it a day
Just sat and strummed away
I had a rhyme for Christmas pud
But forgot it thought I would
That manual it sounds, rather long
Just keep going just be strong
Or if it's too much, play around
Experiment with voice and sound
What type of song
Do you want to sing
Something slow or something fast
Look forward to whatever you chose
When it's done we shall Carouse

You don't stop laughing when you grow old; you grow old when you stop laughing.

My Curiosity is rarely hidden
So I went in search of Midden
Seems it is rubbish left
By those who live near by
And a good source of resource
For Archaeological guys
They can find out who lived where
What, when and how and why
And trace the steps of Ancestors
Who walked this world before us
I wonder what they'll find from us
When they dig in the future
Mcdonalds cartons, 4 by 4s
And a billion dumped computers
I checked out the aborigines
One of the planets oldest cultures
And read this link including Middens
I am a culture vulture.

Dreaming Online: What is Cultural Heritage?

Well, an artist and a culture vulture!
That’s quite a combination!
Sometimes it seems, we’re in a vulture culture
But Starsailor will save the Nation
With his singing and his art
That’s because we know he’s smart
He plays and sings with much distinction
He’ll save us ‘doves’ from dire extinction.

The modern Midden would pack a punch
Perhaps beneath last Sunday’s lunch
They might un-earth a well-loved Axe
Among the Mackers and the ciggy packs?

Wasn't there a film/book, Far From the Midden Crowd?

It's been some time since I came
And any excuse would be quite lame,
But I fear everyone's gone insane,
Chris's song was a scary thang!
Kenny's alter egos fight in his brain
Carol's trying hard to get ready to sang.
The threats to her cat give me pain!
Poor cat ousted....a 'puter to blame!
Jess hunting someone to frame
While playing a prankish game.
Knight46 thinks our minds left on a plane
Some are drinking tea, some complain,
Some go on and on....I won't say a name.......
Just want you to know I'm jealous of your fame!!!!
I must close, my mind's gone down the drain!!!!
