Our University song

The poem before the song...

Staring at the flickering screen
my eyes begin to numb
I go and grab some more caffeine
what have I now done
an office chair at home so plush
tucked in a corner space
just sitting here when came a rush
brought a smile right to my face
its 1 AM this days been long
its time I go to bed
I'll close this out with a new song
that just popped in my head

I've switched into my uniform
My Avatars digressed
I needed to get ready
In case of Jess the prankstress
Carol's up to mischief
Berates my sanity
Play a prank on anyone
Just don't play one on me
I must confess though
I always thought
Pranks were fun to play
As long as they are legal
They brighten up the day
Unless you are the victim
For then the day is grey

We have a saying over here
'Bout toes turning up, oh dear
It means you've carked it,
Pushing up daisies
Gone to God, I fear
But how do you still keep keeping on
With your posting, that is far from clear.

I'm sat by the computer
Sipping Tea by the way
It's really very English
A rich tea and Earl Grey
Maybe I'll have a Sandwich
On a Wedgewood plate
Then talk to the hunt master
Over the garden gate
And ask him why he's hunting
At an hour that's this late
You will not find the foxes
Hiding in the park
They do not hide in shadows
For everywhere is dark
So turn your horse for home my friend
It seems foolish nay not right
To go out hunting foxes
In the middle of the night

I didn't have any intent, that's certain
I just was wondering, from behind my curtain (a rhyming thing)
How it was going, and what you've done
To fix it up, or if the winning's won? (another rhyming thing).

I'm having trouble keeping up
With pranks, sheds and now a ghost
This thread will be quite vaunted
If members think it's haunted
But Kennys toes sound only curled
And he is still part of this world
It means the same thing over here
And people often breakdown in tears
They weep and holler, wipe their nose
"Gladys he's gone turned up his toes"

Fox hunting and horses
Is this a new theme?
It's horses for courses
Are you having a dream?

I know that I shouldn't do this to Chris
I couldn't resist, so how about this:

"Gladys, he's gone, he's turned up his toesies"

The verse started quite sensibly
But once again I wandered
I saw a chance to veer off
It wasn't to be squandered
So perchance a merry dance
Grew out from within the lines
And redcoated folks on horseback
Some how came into view
Popped out from my subconcious
Quite why I've not a clue
Could be a dream I'm not too sure
I'm yawning as I write
I fear soon the time will come
When I must say good night
But I'm ok for a minute
I seem to have hit a stride
And like I do with horses
I'll sit back, enjoy the ride

Excellent, the name Glady's reminds me of Monty Python, these old ladies are a real menace in the UK at the moment

Jess you excel and impress
With all your rhymes and phrases
I'm off too, but to make a mess
Of playing guitar, without flubs or phasers.

PS.
Drinking tea is a wonderful thing
But I drink tea with feeling -
So what I do, if I want a fling,
I brew a pot, of best Darjeeling.

Earl Grey
Always has
Something to say
He never, shuts up for a minute
He lurks and churps
As I try to slurp
And wonder, what to put in it.

Which way to the looney bin Chris?

Darjeeling yes a lovely tea
But don't get me wrong
It is not my favourite one
I prefer lapsang souchong
Good to see the rhymes all told
By Jess, Carol, Kenny and fold
Tales of pranks and curly toesies
Madmen posting loonie toonies
Tales of Wives and afternoon teas
Playing pranks and ghosts and Ghoulies
Of men with sheds and studios
And Gladys with her runny nose
We conversed to the early hours
A happy band of rhyming stars
Now we rest, renew our powers
While Jess and Carol play guitars

So many topics, I have to catch-up
I hope my rhymes don't turn into ketchup
I've never heard of lapsang souchong
But it rhymes well with song, and sing-a-long!

Mostly we drink the dreaded Dilmah
Always a favourite with Ma and Pa
But sometimes we decide to go all green
And then we're so calm, we are so serene
That people remark as they sail on by
You'll never cark it, you might even fly
Onto cloud nine, I don't know where this is going
Perhaps I should pause, do a spot of rowing?
They say that rowing, is good for your health
But in my case at least, its not good for wealth......
