Our University song
The poem before the song...
Staring at the flickering screen
my eyes begin to numb
I go and grab some more caffeine
what have I now done
an office chair at home so plush
tucked in a corner space
just sitting here when came a rush
brought a smile right to my face
its 1 AM this days been long
its time I go to bed
I'll close this out with a new song
that just popped in my head

I was wondering why
it was so peaceful
just kidding Carol
you know I'm full of bull
Glad to hear it's ok
that your back on line
and so Ted gets a rest
now that things are fine
I'm probably wrong here
did I read it with a slant
or did you just mention
you bought a pot plant
a wee bit of weed
never did no wrong
but if it's legal there
I'll be movin before long
And I'll not ask
about milking the cow
from the sounds of it
I'll just say wow
Quite a life you've got
from the sound of it
cupa joe wilted pot
and squeezing on a
It's getting late here
as you may have guessed
and about this rhyme
well lets say it's messed
My mind has wondered
quite a bit to far
guess my forehead
won't be sporting a star

The pot plant that turned into
A bit of a wilter
Was because of the rhyme -
You try rhyming with 'kilter'
I suppose there was filter
And possibly tilter
But wilter was chosen
To match my green thumb
And as for the cow
That was something quite simlar
(I've just got to rhyme that,
With Simba and Himmler)
Now she has gone back
To her home in the zoo -
(I quite liked her moo)
I wonder, does she like it too?
I like it because it will rhyme with blue
And you, and yoo-hoo and "What a to-do!"
I find this quite calming
I hope you do too
So much better than
Pot plants that can get you in trouble
That sort of thing can sure burst your bubble
I think I'm now channeling 'The Cat in the Hat'
It was one of my favourites, I will admit that
Along with some others, of this and of that.
In my day, the cat, only sat on the mat
There was no confusion, and no chance to get fat
But these days, the world is all over the place
I believe someone even went out into space
The saying these days, is 'Anything goes'
Except my old router, that thinks that it knows
How to get me distracted, in one hell of a state
I must be off now, 'cos its getting quite late.

In case you didn't know
I'm a dog person quite so
so much so in fact
I won't mention cat
two dogs and a cat we have in our house
the dogs chase the cat like she does a mouse
I'm out of rhymes guess that's that

Two dogs and a cat!
I'll second that
We have that too
And it can be a zoo!
If it was my decision
I would ignore all derision
The cat would be gone
With one strike of the gong!
The cat is low tech
And a pain in the neck
It never is happy
It's mood, always crappy
It always wants something
And doesn't like pumpkin
It's style is commanding
And it's always demanding
To eat something other
(It's no end of a bother)
To give it the boot
Is my favourite persuiit

I heard a yell from down under
Sydney
Awoke me from my wonderous
Snooze
Had some breakfast devilled
Kidney
Put on a tune, Furry sings the
Blues
Then rang my friend who lives in
Lydney
An English place, none other could I
Choose
It was either that or once again
Sydney
So lets about turn try to change
Tack
And talk about your withered
Plant
Or the loving cow that you sent
Back
She gave you milk now she is
Distant
It's an udder disgrace oh no the
Sack
Lets change again, a slightly different
Slant
Cows are different, guess it kind of
Shows
Unlike us Cows don't have feet they all
Lactose
Hold on though, don't go no no just
Wait
Meant no offense to cows so don't you be
Morose
I love them, oh yes I do because they all
Lactate
You don't stop laughing when you grow old; you grow old when you stop laughing.

Cats and Dogs
And Cows without Toes
Blue billed Ducks
And weeds with Bows
Is a wonder how anyone
This thread can follow
Sometimes the info
Is to much to swallow.

It's charming the profusion
Of all this neat confusion
We meander here
Wander there
Wear brylcream
In our golden hair
I've lost the plot
Please help me here
My rambling
Seems to be unclear
Lacks clarity
And phrasing
A bit like
Crazy paving
But do not fear
Knight
Days end is near
The night shift I feel
Will soon appear
They filled a page
When we we're gone
Tonight they'll fill
Another one
We have done well
The thread is long
So sanity may sometimes stray
But lucid moments
Will return all freshly filtered
Oh no my tree fern
It just wilted
You don't stop laughing when you grow old; you grow old when you stop laughing.

It's Tuesday night
in this part of the world
I'm sitting here bored
around the site I have twirled
A peek at this
and some of that too
do you get this way
tell me what do you do
The wife's asleep
so sounds are a no no
kinda hungover
headphones are no go
Too early for bed
too late for some noise
too broke to go out
or even look for new toys
I guess stare at the screen
and just hope for replies
this feeling it stinks
like that which draws flies
but wait ah alas
have no pity for me
just got an idea
re-watch my PT DVD

Ah Ha I say, that sound I heard
What was it.......a bird????
No.......a Jews harp they say,
Just twang, twanging away.
Carol, I'm quiet impressed ,
That twanging was absolutely the best!
It has an Aussie sound to me
I always wondered what a Jews harp be???
As you can see from this rhyme
The English must suffer at times
So the Poem will survive
And keep this thread alive!
I'm sure the other's think we're crazy
When we wander and become hazy
And go in search of words that rhyme
And get nonsensical at times.
Yep.......crazy we may be,
But we have a lot of fun don't we?
And Carol just to let you know...sparse
rhymes really well with horse!!!
Music is a universal language!

Kick the cat, Kenny
It's quite therapeutic
Just take a big swing
And heaven-wards boot it

Aunt Doty, I don't know, how it is over there
But here, 'sparse' don't rhyme too well with 'horse'
But I see a link, because sparse implies bare
So a horse's derriere is much better - of course
A word I can't mention, because I do care
To keep up our standards....how did I fare?

Sparse, horse, remorse
All rhyme here of course.
I forget words spoken afar
May sound different and not on par!

Thank you friends, for words of good cheer
Even I know my twanging, is just short of fear
But Knight is the leader, in chivalrous names
And you all took his lead, so, I hold you all dear.
Well, Chris wears brylcream in his hair!
And cows in Cornwall have no feet?
What a wondrous place, his rural lair-
A place where vagrants like to meet.
I heard today of news most dire-
Half of Europe in a mire
Of rain and flood and icy winds
And Cornwall (paying for all its sins?)
Is in the forefront of misfortune
Maybe now the time is opportune
For nice hot chocolate in a mug
Or if you prefer, a real stiff slug
Of something warming by the fire
In circumstances, that are so dire?
There's one thing Chris, I'd like to know
As you huddle up, and think of snow
A recipe for a Cornish Pasty
(I know your middle name is Patsy)
Would keep me busy, and out of trouble
At least, that's the theory - it never works
I suppose I'm one of Nature's quirks
I'm always thinking, of my tummy
And tasty things that I find yummy.
Way back in pre-historic times
We stayed in Cornwall, and saw the mines
But best of all were the Cornish Pasties
They were very good, there was no contention
From a mobile van, it was quite an invention
(Like Harry de Wheels - a Sydney landmark
Which reminds me of Knight, and his Hunting the Snark)
I have veered off course, once again, it seems
But those pasties could fill up a thousand dreams
And you being a sailor, you'll have no trouble
In understanding my usual muddle
Of thoughts and rhymes, and sometimes plain twaddle-
And how's your grandchild? ('twaddle' rhymes with 'swaddle')
I have to stop this addictive drivel
As brits and yanks are doomed to snivel
And shiver and freeze and snooze till dawn
And everyone else just gives a big yawn.

Aunt Doty, reaching's the name of the game
It's all in good fun, and it keeps us all sane
Well, maybe not sane, but it keeps us alive
Though the risk is, our readers might never survive
