Our University song

The poem before the song...

Staring at the flickering screen
my eyes begin to numb
I go and grab some more caffeine
what have I now done
an office chair at home so plush
tucked in a corner space
just sitting here when came a rush
brought a smile right to my face
its 1 AM this days been long
its time I go to bed
I'll close this out with a new song
that just popped in my head

Watch out now...
Chris I think that you covered the entire bird genus, very well done.
I believe that we can now qualify for our degee in Ornithology

I think we're all just birds of a feather (that's an English saying hope it means the same everywhere else)

Birds of a Feather, indeed. I have never been so...wait, I know that saying, never mind.

Those who rhyme together, chime together?
Perhaps that is the one?
Perhaps its this one, let me pond-er
Birds of a feather, pluck together
It's much more musical than strum
(Here we have some cooler weather
Methinks its time to feed my tum).

Twenty! Twenty! Do I hear you say?
I've mentioned this before
I have 40 posts per page
You're not within bull's roar
My pages soon will soar to ten
Why the need of twenty four?

Twenty four
is so much more
in ways of publicity
then again
only ten
shows simplicity
have to say
in my own way
sort of "felicity"
there should not
be a lot
of complicity

Howdy folks, I have been busy
Not sure how this'll go in rhyme
Made a trip out to the country
And it took no end of time.

Off I went in search of booty
To pick up my guitar, the plan
People there, they were not snooty
But traffic all the roads did jam.

Now I have it under wing
Not sure how to plug it in
Must not make an awful din
Maybe for me, this one will sing.

Also I've been writing lyrics
Nothing ready yet to post
Several ideas nearly finished
Oops I think I've burnt the toast.

Busy busy all day long
Boring stuff that takes up time
Maybe now a time for a song
And polish up that one last line.

Nice one carol pleased to see
You got your new guitar
If concerned about the neighbours
Play it through the phones
But make no bones one of the joys
When you have an electric
Is to turn the volume up real loud
And make things real hectic
Neighbours banging on the door
Pets running for cover
The family with their hands in ears
A nervous looking lover
Hoping that the phase will pass
No chance it's there for ever
A rebirth as a guitar babe
Not just for rainy Weather
So rock the halls and rock the rooms
Be it left or right
Impress us with your multi skills
And set the world alight

Good to see you writing songs
When you're ready post em' on
Till then we wait so we can see
The things that you've done Lyrically

You don't stop laughing when you grow old; you grow old when you stop laughing.

Is it spring break here on campus
did everyone leave via the bus
writing on the wall is it a sign
school lets out give up the rhyme

class is over but no need to go
always summer school as you know
if you can, and can find your pen
somebody please rhyme back to Ken

Noticed you were all alone
So I penciled in some time
To write a line or two
Has everyone left town
Is it just me and you
I think that they may be busy
So for now it's just us two
I'm sure that all will return
In the fullness of time
It may continue know one knows
Lets wait and ponder, see how it goes
And if the thread winds slowly down
We should not be sad or wear a frown
The thread may stop and then be gone
But the written word goes on and on
and on and on and on and on and on
and on and on and on and on and on
To infinity and beyond (Buzz Lightyear)

Hey Thanks Chris
I thought things went amiss
I was chilled to the bone
thinking I was left alone
Must of been dizzy
not to think of them as busy
Thank Buzz in all his glory

O ye of little faith, my friends
What talk is this of ending?
Not while I'm alive, by jingo
(Stuff ups elsewhere I was mending).

Ugh, the traumas -
Don't even ask!
Nothing went as planned
Stuff ups everywhere you look-
Now, all is well in hand.

Back to where things ring out clearly
GFB' the place to be
Back to twanging, I missed it dearly
Now my time's a bit more free.

I have several toys to play with
One guitar and two electronic
I needed to upgrade my puter
My need for backup was quite chronic.

I have managed two great bargains
USB ports, the type is 2
Got it for a measly 5 bucks
Then,
5 bucks there, upon the ground
That was fortune quite profound.

Then I searched upon the web
And found a Backup going cheap
Now I have more gigs to save me
If my hard disc falls in a heap.

Now I have to set them up
Screwdrivers are required I know
But I'm not phased because dear Tekker
Showed me just the way to go.

On we go my fellow travellers
Bus or train or ship of fools
Lets not talk of ends or failure
We have to find those lyric jewels.

Grab your guitars one and all
Put down all your thoughts in rhyme
Don't let lack of ardour pall us
Our University can be part time.

Absent in body
But not in mind,
My travels are many
This limits my time.
I find that while rhyming
I think very deep
But then when I am thinking
I often fall asleep.

The wanderers they have returned
Carols back with her new guitar
Today the Knight came back as well
So Kenny it's okay
The epitaph will have to wait
Until another day
The writing is still on the page
No it's not on the wall
So I take this chance to say
Welcome back to all
Carol you are doing well
With all that techno babble
I just look for bigger words
So concentrate on scrabble
And Knight I fell asleep
While typing out a thread
And now I have a keyboard
Imprinted on my head
But I get sort of nervous
When I'm drowsy and replete
My Wife keeps reaching over
And tries to press delete

You don't stop laughing when you grow old; you grow old when you stop laughing.

This morning as I rose quite early
I tackled my computer's hardware
After brushing teeth so pearly,
Applied screwdrivers, fair and square

Now the task of setting up
Making all connections flow
Have to use a bit of brain power
If the thing is going to go.

Also, yesterday I had to go
To the dentist for my tooth
Four hundred bucks for all my folly
Made the dentist laugh, forsooth.

I'd laugh too if it was me
Fixing teeth is not a choice
If you want to smile and dazzle
So they charge a big fat fee.

I've been working on my twanging
Searched to find a backing track
Thought that it would be quite fitting
If I twanged, to a Kenny track.

So be prepared my trusty inmates
Some awful twanging's in the offing
Once I get my puter singing
(And squash the sound of local scoffing).
