Staring at the flickering screen
my eyes begin to numb
I go and grab some more caffeine
what have I now done
an office chair at home so plush
tucked in a corner space
just sitting here when came a rush

I was away this weekend
And found as I homeward sped
Our little Band had grown again

She adds another perspective

Ok I'm stuck now...

When I'm stuck I look around
The room for inspiration
I look for anything to rhyme
To assist my creation
I looked first at the table
And thought I would be able
To find a word to rhyme with that
And then I thought well that last word
It sort of rhymes cat
Things they were now going well
I carried on my rhyme
Looked at the clock and realised
That rhyme can rhyme with time
So it was quite delightful
A chord I now had struck
I must confess at this point
I could not believe my luck
Thought I'd go outside now
As I felt quite inspired
And carried on my good fortune
When I rhymed Tyre with wire
But then it all went wrong
When I looked at the pond
A place I must admit
Of which I'm very fond
Everything just fell apart
I sort of came unstuck
I could only think of one word
That rhymed with Ruddy Duck

Next time Chris by the pond
and for a rhyme your stuck
wave a make believe wand
it will bring you good luck

never seen one at the zoo
from afar or close at hand

A Ruddy Duck
I must confess
Not native to this land
At the time, I did find
That this one
Popped into my mind
It is a real beauty
A blue beak, shining bright
But it does have some issues
And cannot walk upright
When it is out of water
The duck just staggers around
But when it's back in water
The duck is on safe ground
I may meander off thread
But thought you'd like to see
This fine species of duck
In all of it's glory

Apologies for momentarily turning the thread into a Natural History thread, I didn't want to duck the question (that was an extremely bad joke, I'm very sorry I couldn't help myself)

Ruddy Duck - Oxyura jamaicensis

a little duck with a blue bill
a first for me was quite a thrill
I need a life to get out more
and see what lies beyond the door

Has quite some plumage
Maybe he could bring you luck
When inspiration's up in flumage
And for rhymes you find you're stuck.
I note with interest in his bio
His song is 'generally, quite silent'
I know the feeling when I try-o
And vocal chords are less than pliant.

I live with them
They're rather nice
This thread is quite unique
We switched around
From University, to beak
Is there no subject
We'll not try to tweak

And while it contains some silly words

I settled on a Duck
With Pigeons, had no luck
My Hawks squawk was a fright
The Owl he kept me up all night
Got bored by the Partridge family
And Sparrows didn't seem to like me
I tried my hand with a Great Auk
My Parrot he refused to talk
The Songthrush couldn't sing in tune
Swans they wanted too much room
My Goose he nearly broke my leg
The chicken never laid an egg
So I chose the Duck
And I love him to bits
The moderators might object
So I missed out the pair of.
